Gum Disease Therapy

Protect yourself from the disease responsible for most of America's adult tooth loss. Gum disease is a sneaky disease that has been linked to increased risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes and diabetes complications, low-weight births, and many other adverse health conditions. Early symptoms of gum disease include red, tender gums, bleeding when brushing teeth, and pockets between teeth and gums.

If we find that you have gum disease, our hygienist will recommend a deep cleaning. This involves removing hardened plaque from below the gum line, a procedure known as scaling, and smoothing rough areas on tooth roots, which is called root planing. We may also administer antibiotics to reduce infection. If you have advanced gum disease, Dr. Ginn may refer you to a periodontist for surgery.

Gum disease is a chronic illness. To maintain good gum health after gum disease therapy, you'll need frequent hygiene care in our office. Our hygienist will also teach you how to adjust your homecare routine to prevent gum disease from returning.

Call our dental office in Washington Court House today to schedule your gum disease consultation. Dr. Ginn cares for patients from Jeffersonville, New Holland, Sabina, and Greenfield with comprehensive cosmetic dentistry and general dentistry.
